Naturopathic Medicine: A Natural Approach to Health Care
Dr. Devra Krassner provides primary care services to families, men, women and children with an emphasis on natural therapeutics. As a naturopathic doctor, she treats the full range of acute and chronic conditions, as well as people who are healthy but seek preventive care and ways to optimize their health.
A 1987 graduate of the National College of Naturopathic Medicine in Portland, Oregon, Dr. Krassner has been practicing in Maine, New Hampshire and Massachusetts for the past 20 years. Dr. Krassner is licensed to practice naturopathic medicine in Maine.
Dr. Krassner is committed to sharing information with people, thereby empowering them to have more control over their health care and their lives. She refers to other health care providers when appropriate and welcomes referrals as well. By working together with other practitioners as a team, she strives to provide optimal service to those who seek her care.
Dr. Krassner employs standard diagnostic methods, including medical history, physical exams and laboratory testing. She then draws from a variety of natural therapeutics to devise an individualized treatment plan for each person taking into account physical, mental, emotional and spiritual factors. These therapeutics include homeopathy, botanical medicine and therapeutic nutrition. If, in rare instances, an allopathic medicine is required, she is able to prescribe certain medications derived from natural substances. These include some antibiotics, such as amoxycillin, anti-fungal medications, hormonal therapies and certain topical prescription creams. Dr. Krassner works with each client to create a health plan that best matches their philosophy and needs.
Dr. Krassner has been very active in the licensure process in both New Hampshire and Maine. She is past-president of the Maine Association of Naturopathic Doctors. She is a member of and past Board Member of the American Association of Naturopathic Physicians. She is also a member of various other professional organizations including the National Center for Homeopathy.
Dr. Krassner has lectured extensively on many topics including issues in women's health care, homeopathy, botanical medicine and common childhood illnesses. She is available for lectures and workshops on a variety of subjects in natural health care.
